Interdisciplinary School Projects

This training is designed for teachers and members of school management who are passionate about integrating sustainability into their educational programs and creating meaningful learning experiences for their students.

In this training, we will explore strategies and best practices for designing and implementing interdisciplinary projects that address sustainability challenges and foster real positive impact within and beyond the school community.

We will begin by examining the importance of interdisciplinary learning and its role in developing students’ critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration skills. Through interactive discussions and case studies, we will explore the benefits of integrating sustainability across multiple subject areas and creating connections between different disciplines.

Next, we will delve into the process of designing interdisciplinary projects with a focus on sustainability. You will learn how to identify relevant sustainability themes and connect them to curriculum goals and learning outcomes. We will explore project-based learning approaches, design thinking methodologies, and inquiry-based strategies to develop engaging and impactful projects.

The training will also emphasize the importance of collaboration and community engagement. You will discover how to involve local organizations, experts, and community members to enhance the authenticity and real-world impact of the projects. We will discuss effective communication strategies and stakeholder engagement techniques to build strong partnerships that support sustainable initiatives.

Throughout the training, we will explore a range of sustainability topics, such as renewable energy, waste reduction, biodiversity conservation, food systems, and social justice, and you can use the Äerdschëff as an oversized pedagogical tool. You will have the opportunity to develop real projects that you can put into practice in your professional context.

Additionally, we will address the assessment and evaluation of interdisciplinary projects. You will learn how to design meaningful assessment criteria and rubrics that capture both content knowledge and the development of key sustainability competencies. We will discuss methods for measuring the impact of projects on student learning, community engagement, and the environment.

By the end of the training, you will have a toolbox of practical strategies and resources to build interdisciplinary, cross-school projects around sustainability with real positive impact. You will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to lead your school community in integrating sustainability into the curriculum and fostering a culture of environmental responsibility and social consciousness
