When education meets ecological action
At Äerdschëff, sharing our low-tech knowledge and passion for local resilience is what makes our hearts beat faster. This March, we were delighted to welcome two inspiring educational groups from Luxembourg:
-
a group of teachers from the École internationale de Mersch Anne Beffort (EIMAB)
-
and a vibrant team of students from the Lycée Aline Mayrisch
These encounters reflect our deep commitment to supporting education for ecological transition—with both humility and joy.

Two high schools, two days of low-tech and nature inspiration
A Learning Experience Rooted in Nature for the École internationale Mersch Anne Beffort
A motivated group of teachers from the International School of Mersch Anne Beffort (EIMAB) came to Äerdschëff with an inspiring idea: to design an unconventional classroom—an outdoor learning space equipped with an aquaponics system and a pedagogical garden. This project aims to reconnect students directly with the natural world, blending hands-on learning with ecological awareness.
The visit was part of a teacher training led by Dr Katy Fox, organised by the Institut de Formation de l’Éducation Nationale (IFEN). Together, the group explored the use of sustainable materials, energy-autonomous systems, and above all, the power of student involvement. It was a meaningful and heartwarming day—bathed in gentle March sunshine—reminding us how deeply reflection and action can be rooted in the right setting.
Sustainable Energy & Low-Tech Futures with Lycée Aline Mayrisch
Just a few days later, we welcomed a dynamic group of students from Lycée Aline Mayrisch for a workshop centred on sustainable energy and low-tech solutions—accessible technologies designed to reduce our ecological impact.
The students were invited to engage in concrete discussions around the future of energy, discovering simple yet powerful tools that prioritize resilience over complexity. The day ended on a powerful note with the symbolic planting of a tree in our garden—a gesture uniting theory and action, and embodying their collective commitment to the Earth.
Together, We Grow Resilience
A heartfelt bravo to these bright young minds! Their curiosity and commitment embody the very spirit of local resilience we strive to nurture at Äerdschëff.
These intergenerational exchanges are a precious reminder: the best way to shape the future is to imagine it together—starting today.
